Log Purchasing

 


I am a local saw miller always looking for logs to mill - most often hardwood (not pine or oak), such as Walnut, Cherry, Elm, Spalted, Maple, etc. Logs need to be at least 6’ long in length and a minimum of 20” diameter at the smaller end. The ideal length of logs is 10-12’ and the ideal diameter would be 24-36”.

We typically purchase logs in one of three ways:

  1. Pay by the trailer load (6-ton - see photo)

  2. Return 1-2 milled slabs of lumber as payment (typically hardwood)

  3. Mill some other logs for you (typically soft wood)
